If so, you’re not alone!

Set Yourself Up For Success

Before I get into those two steps, I want to talk about how you can set yourself up for success. I work part-time and a full-time caregiver for my two kids, ages 3 ½ and 5. My day revolves around them, so I try to fit in my crafting sessions when I can. I might have 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there, early in the morning or late at night. But that doesn’t always work out because of my daily responsibilities and my mental health (anxiety, depression, and ADHD). That’s why I’ve come up with two ideas to help me always find new ideas.

To maximize your creative energy, focus on activities that engage your creative energy and avoid activities that kill it:

  • scrolling social media

  • comparing your work to other people’s work

  • doubting your abilities

These are all things that can hinder your creativity.

Instead, here are some ideas to try:

  • try going for a walk

  •  listening to music

  • journaling

  • taking breaks from social media

Record Your Ideas

I also use a planner to help me not only generate ideas but also track them. That way, when I do sit down to craft, I can look back at my planner and be reminded of all the ideas I had. My planner is available on Amazon and you can find it here.

Generating New Ideas

The first thing I like to do is start with a theme. Whatever you are feeling, things you like, things your friends like, something you see on the internet – pick a theme and search the internet for images, colors, and shapes. Don’t try to recreate exactly what you see, but use it as a point of inspiration to get ideas and create something new.

The second way I generate tumbler ideas is to look at the supplies I have like pattern vinyl or decals. I pick one and then find a few colors that match it. From there, I think about what techniques I want to use such as a V-split or a three-way split.

If you need help organizing your ideas or getting inspiration, I highly recommend getting a copy of my planner. I also have a video on my channel with tips on carving out time throughout the day to schedule in your crafting so be sure to subscribe as I am always releasing helpful content.

With these tips I am able to keep new ideas churning and eliminate the overthinking and jump to the fun and satisfaction of making beautiful tumblers!
